Hi, I'm Chelsea – the owner of Vet Nurse Direct. I live in North Canterbury with my husband, our three children, and our two beloved fur children, Fabian and Vinnie.
I'm a qualified veterinary nurse with a diploma in Veterinary Nursing and experience across general practice, emergency care, and shelter medicine. Animals have always been a big part of my life – I’ve loved and cared for pets of all shapes and sizes for as long as I can remember.
The idea for Vet Nurse Direct came from my time working in clinic settings, where I saw how stressful vet visits could be for both pets and their owners. Some animals find car rides or clinics overwhelming, which can make routine care more difficult than it needs to be.
That’s why I started Vet Nurse Direct – a mobile veterinary nurse service offering calm, compassionate care in the comfort of your home. It’s a more convenient and relaxed experience for you and your pet.
I’m proud to provide professional, in-home care for pets throughout Christchurch, North Canterbury (including Amberley), and Rolleston.

OUR STORY
Vet Nurse Direct began from something I witnessed over and over again during my years working in veterinary clinics, clients and their beloved pets struggling with the stress of clinic visits. For many animals, just getting in the car or sitting in a waiting room was overwhelming. I knew there had to be a better way to provide the care they needed without all the anxiety.
That’s when I decided to take a different path and bring vet nursing care directly to the home.
What started with a few home visits soon turned into something truly rewarding. I saw how relaxed and comfortable pets were in their own environment, and how much easier it was for their owners too. No rushed appointments, no stressful travel, just calm, compassionate care where pets feel safe.
As a mobile vet nurse, I now offer a wide range of in-home services from nail trims and medication administration to post-operative care, senior pet support, weight checks, and gentle cat grooming. Cats in particular tend to become extremely anxious in clinic settings, so being able to groom them at home where they’re calm and confident makes a huge difference to their comfort and wellbeing.
These routine maintenance tasks may seem simple, but they can make a big impact on a pet’s quality of life when done regularly and with care.
What I love most is building real connections, not just with the pets, but with their people. Being welcomed into someone’s home to help care for a furry family member is a privilege I never take for granted.
